How should a single man spend Valentine’s Day?

While all your friends complain about having to buy gifts for their girlfriends (or about having no gift ideas in mind) on Valentine’s Day, do you wish you had someone to buy gifts for — or at least someone to buy gifts for you? Yes, Valentine’s Day is the day of love, romance and passion, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t deserve to make the day memorable.

Even if you won’t be receiving chocolates or other goodies, there are plenty of ways to spend Valentine’s Day if you’re single and still want to have a good time. You don’t have to resort to calling an ex-girlfriend to feel “normal” on this day (and if you do call her, you’ll likely end up with booty-call remorse). Use this day for lovers to treat yourself to something good.

Treat yourself

Go to a spa, get a massage or check out the new restaurant you’ve always wanted to try. Sure, the latter suggestion leaves images of a dude sitting like a loser all by himself in a restaurant, but invite some friends and you’re sure to have a good time. Get yourself that Gucci shirt you’ve seen on display for weeks or purchase the cool mags for your car — treat yourself like gold. No matter what you do as you spend Valentine’s Day alone, do what you enjoy doing most and feel good about yourself.

Have a party

Invite all your single friends (guys and girls) or those whose dates are unavailable, and have a bash at your place. Get some cocktails, appetizers, and music going and make the night memorable by taking it easy with your close friends. This is a great option if you don’t want to spend Valentine’s Day alone.

Go to a party

If you’re invited to a party, then go — with or without a date. No one said that you couldn’t participate in Valentine’s Day activities if you don’t have a Valentine. Who knows, you may leave the party with a “momentary” love interest.

Veg out

If you’ve had a hard day at work and just feel like kicking back and lounging at home, then bring home your favorite meal, watch TV and rent those movies that you’ve always wanted to watch but never had the chance to. The point is to do whatever you want as you spend Valentine’s Day alone, and thank your lucky stars you have the remote all to yourself (although no woman would stand a chance anyway).

There are lots more you can do if you’re going to spend Valentine’s Day alone…
